Close to You

The main methodology of AP Courses. This is a format and collection of teaching methods that guarantee students results.

A person with a beginner or zero level of foreign language has one year. A year that everyone takes too seriously because they expect an intense pace and think they will have to sacrifice sleep in order to complete all four levels.

But what if that’s not the case? What if you don’t need to make a superhuman effort to learn a language thoroughly? What if there is a way to complete this journey with confidence and still have time to study, work, and spend time with loved ones?

What does this methodology include?

Mixed format of classes

Alternating theoretical, practical group, and individual classes within a single course.

Teaching methods

The materials are selected so that students find it interesting to learn new information. They are presented not in a “dry” academic tone, but in an unobtrusive, friendly manner.

Innovations

In class, we use 3D models and interactive methods to activate different types of memory and engage students even more.

Motivational program

To keep moving forward, it is important to see not only what remains to be done, but also how much you have already accomplished. That is why we have created a student ranking system so that you can always remember your achievements. We give out valuable prizes to the leaders of the ranking.

Teacher-student interaction

The lessons are conducted in a friendly atmosphere, with the teacher acting as a mentor who helps rather than forces. In addition to the teacher, the service manager also provides support and motivation to students.

Three pillars

Like the Earth in ancient times, this methodology “stands” on three pillars: attention, curiosity, and the teacher.

Attention

Online classes take place as follows: the teacher works in front of a transparent glass board. It turns out that the student and the teacher are on both sides of the board — it’s like a two-way mirror with material.

This allows the teacher to face the student at all times and maintain eye contact. It also allows them to teach actively: gesturing, communicating constantly, rather than lecturing. And that is why it encourages the audience to learn.

This way, the student focuses better on the lesson and is more attentive because they can see both the speaker and the written information.

Curiosity

To better remember the material, students should retain vivid memories or associations.

To do this, we visualize the topic as vividly as possible in our theoretical classes. We use 3D models, illustrations, and videos instead of texts and other academic tools. And in practical classes, we use communication instead of outdated exercises from textbooks.

The online platform our students work with contains educational games, simulators, films, series, and cartoons dubbed in foreign languages. By playing educational games, students earn points that are counted in a common rating, and we use this data to create final prize draws.
This way, we create healthy competition and further motivate students. According to feedback, this makes learning more interesting.

Teacher

All these methods are successful thanks to a special approach to teaching, which is primarily guaranteed by the teacher.

AP Courses cares about student progress: the service manager and the teacher constantly help and motivate students to continue learning during difficult moments. The structure of the courses and the number of students in the class allow the teacher to work individually. After class, they write a review for each student, taking into account their individual characteristics, and provide recommendations and the necessary resources for review.

Why close to you?

Our task is to adapt the materials and presentation of information. And to help students adapt learning for themselves.

Simply put, Close to You is about making learning easier for students by allowing them to study the subject itself comprehensively and visually, rather than just information about it.

With us, students can independently select topics for the next lesson. These can be their hobbies, work, or anything else they are involved in.

It’s what they watch in the evenings over dinner, what they search for on Google, what they plan to learn.

The same things they would read or watch in their native language, but now they can combine pleasure with practicality. These are their translated everyday life and work, something useful and necessary.

Our teaching is close to the student because it is their life, only in a foreign language.

There is no point in studying something uninteresting. That is why we have created conditions that are interesting to the student first and foremost. It’s not easy, it’s not fluency in one month, it’s not the latest super-methods that don’t even require learning. It’s interesting. This is the first step to success, which is actually close to you.

Help

In foreign languages, as in any of our endeavors, it is difficult for a person to independently determine their current level. There are plenty of quizzes and express tests that give levels from A1 to C2. But this does not reflect the real level. The one that is confirmed by international exams and the one that truly reflects proficiency, i.e., the ability to perceive and reproduce information.

Quizzes are useful for getting started and gaining a general understanding, but for thorough improvement, you need an expert’s opinion. That is why, after each lesson, students always receive feedback from the teacher with a diagram showing their main competencies.

It is compiled according to professional assessment criteria that take into account the ability to: perceive speech by ear (including speech by native speakers with different accents), read and understand text (academic, official, everyday, and literary styles), reproduce information in writing, and communicate.

We have also created a grammar workbook — a cheat sheet and methodology guide, because rules tend to fly out of your head:

24/7 support

Chat with teachers

There you can ask questions that arise while doing your homework and at any time in general.
We have also thought through the questions in advance and created video answers to the most frequently asked ones.

Rating

This idea kills two birds with one stone: motivation from satisfaction and pride in your own achievements. And also – the thrill of competition. There you can compare your today’s results with yesterday’s. And you can win a valuable prize.
