How long does it take to prepare for the Certyfikat Języka Polskiego?
You can determine how long it will take to prepare based on your current level of knowledge. There are approximate timeframes provided by teachers. By preparing gradually and consistently, beginner students reach A2 in 3-4 months. From level A2 to B1: 2-3 months. From B1 to B2: 4-5 months. Levels B2 and C1 indicate that the student already has sufficient skills to communicate on arbitrary and professional topics, i.e., they are close to the skills of a native Polish speaker.
Is it possible to prepare for the Polish exam from scratch?
Many students in AP Courses start preparing for this exam from scratch. They note that the hardest part is getting started, and the most important thing is to understand how grammar and vocabulary rules work. Over time, they recognize more and more similarities in the structure of the Polish and Ukrainian languages, and then learning becomes easier. The entire process of quality preparation for beginners takes 9-12 months. And if a student aims to achieve a level lower than C1 or B2, the duration is shorter. It is a permanent official document in a single copy, issued by a specially created State Commission for the Examination of Knowledge of Polish as a Foreign Language. It is mandatory for obtaining citizenship or residence rights, admission to educational institutions, and employment in Poland.
What exam preparation formats are available: individual or group?
Preparation for the Polish exam is available in two formats: group and individual classes. In the group format, students work in teams. First, the teacher presents information and provides a detailed analysis of the topics, and then the students complete individual tasks and practice by taking mock tests. In the individual format, students have other opportunities. If they have comments or questions after a group lesson, they can review the material with the teacher, exploring the topic in more detail and focusing on their personal questions. There is also the option to complete the program entirely on an individual basis.
How long does the Polish exam preparation course last?
AP Courses offer preparation courses of varying lengths, with the shortest course lasting one month. It is suitable for students who have prepared in advance and want to fill in the gaps in their education, or those who have a high level of proficiency and want to familiarize themselves with the structure of the test and practice taking it on trial versions. Students are given three months to study a particular level — this is the duration of another course. If a student is starting from scratch, a one-year preparation course or a six-month course would be suitable.
